Trek have just launched the Checkpoint ALR Gen 3, and we’re honestly pretty excited about it. We’ve worked with every generation of Checkpoint here at Fife Cycles, and this new version feels like a proper step forward — not just in spec, but in who it’s for.

🔧 1x Up Front, Hydraulic Brakes — Finally
Trek have gone fully 1x across the range. No front mech faff, just clean, simple shifting. It’s what most gravel riders want, and it’s great to see it now standard across ALR 3, 4 and 5.
Even better, the ALR 4 and ALR 5 now come with hydraulic brakes — a huge improvement over the old cable discs. More control, better stopping power, and you’ll feel the difference straight away.
💸 Prices That Actually Make Sense
Trek’s been really bold with the pricing this year. The new ALR range is significantly cheaper than the outgoing models, even with better kit. We think it’s a sign of things to come for the 2026 range.
At a time when everything else seems to be going up, it’s refreshing to see a brand bring prices down — and not just on entry-level builds. These bikes are properly specced.

This frame is built from Trek’s premium Alpha Aluminium, and it feels anything but budget. It’s light, tough, and paired with a carbon fork to smooth out the chatter. The shaping and finish are spot on — it’s the kind of alloy frame that surprises you.

You’ve now got space for up to 50 mm tyres (or 29 x 2.0"), which means more comfort and grip whether you’re off-roading or just tackling grim local backroads.
