The Marlin 7 is the top of the Marlin hardtails and the one that needs nothing upgraded. An air-sprung RockShox Judy Silver fork, SRAM NX Eagle 12-speed with a huge 11–50 cassette, a dropper post, tubeless-ready wheels and proper Maxxis Rekon tyres — this is a trail bike spec on a frame that costs a fraction of what it looks like it should.

• RockShox Judy Silver, Solo Air — air spring means you can tune it to your weight, with rebound adjust and TurnKey lockout. A big step over the coil forks lower in the range.
• SRAM NX Eagle 1x12 with an 11–50 cassette — Eagle's 500% range makes any Fife climb rideable.

Who it's for
