The Marlin 6 is the sweet spot if you already know you'll be riding trails. For the extra money over the 5 you get three things that genuinely change how the bike rides: a RockShox Judy fork, a dropper seatpost, and Shimano CUES 10-speed with an 11–48 cassette. Add tubeless-ready Bontrager Kovee wheels and you've got a bike that'll take you from your first blue to your first red without needing a thing changed.
