Continental Gatorskin — 700x28c Wired Clincher Road Tyre (Black)

The Gatorskin is the UK's default winter training and commuting tyre, and has been for years — chosen for outright toughness and mileage rather than lap times. This is the 700x28c size with a rigid wire bead, built around Continental's PolyX Breaker and the bead-to-bead DuraSkin mesh that gives the tyre its distinctive brown-flecked sidewall.

A sensible choice for winter miles and year-round commuting on Fife's gritted, chipped-seal roads, where cuts and flints do more damage than anything else. The slick German-made natural rubber tread holds on well in the wet and wears slowly.
